Walked Stage 1 of the GM Ringway from Manchester to Sale Water Park. It rained, of course. We saw a heron, took a lot of photos, and stopped at the café in Longford Park to dry off and refuel. A quiet, grey-skied adventure with plenty to look at.

The Manchester skyline framed through the girders of a railway bridge.

Taken from the Castlefield Viaduct, a Victorian-era former railway viaduct now transformed into a garden.

An abandoned shopping trolley on a playing field, with goalposts behind. A heron standing in grass beside a graffiti-covered brick wall. A brick railway viaduct with the Deansgate towers rising behind. A canal running beneath iron railway viaducts, with narrowboats moored alongside. A brick lock keeper's cottage beside a canal, with tower blocks behind. Tall glass towers above a terrace of brick warehouses. Black and white. A red iron bridge crossing a canal, with a graffitied towpath beneath. A canal running between trees towards city towers. Black and white.
